A magazine about lifestyles in Russia reported the results of a survey, directed at women, which asked what they wanted from their men. Many different characteristics were returned. Some of the answers given, as to what a Russian wife Expects in Her Mate, are addressed below.

Presenting oneself as well-groomed and dressed was given high marks from Russian women. They expressed great dislike for men whose dress and appearance were sloppy or unkempt. The women thought that if they take pride in how they present themselves, so should their partners.

As with many women, they look for an industrious streak in their men. While the degree of success in life is relative, the respondents stated that they do not appreciated a lazy man. Words like enthusiastic and ambitious were mentioned as being desirable traits in a man. Russian women are looking for a well-rounded person who has friends, who enjoys their career, and takes pride in keeping their body healthy.

No one likes to be lied to. Women in this survey are no different. The people who responded stated that being lied to would mean the man had no respect for the woman. A popular lie that seems to occur on an early date is that many men embellish what they do for a living. While this may seem trivial at the moment, it leads the woman to form a wrong opinion of the man. Lies about status seemed to be the most unforgivable in this sample.

Other issues of disrespect were expressed as being badly talked about when a woman was not in the room, or being looked at as having worth only in direct relation to their sexual attractiveness. These women also equated sexual infidelity and not being told the truth as other means of disrespect.

There seems to be little compromise when it comes to cheating in Russia. Women looked for punishments or flat out terminating the relationship if they found that their man had cheated on them. There was little difference in this feeling if the man had committed an emotional dalliance as opposed to a sexual fling.

While men who exhibit a bit of self-centeredness and arrogance can use these traits to excel in many areas of business and a social life, an abundance of either was found to be unwelcome in this survey. Women may find that both of these traits are part of a sense of confidence that is attractive in moderated amounts. However, both are regarded as undesirable when applied in the extreme.

When it comes to sex, women and men differ greatly on when and how they want to talk about the subject. Women revealed that talk about sex occurred too early in the relationship for their comfort. The topic, when introduced too early, caused women to view men as perverts and made them feel less safe.

The survey gives a glimpse into what a Russian wife likes in her mate before and after marriage. Overall, women stated they wanted to be treated with respect and not to be treated as a sexual object. This is a common request from women from many different countries. Men may want to provide women the courtesy of granting this request.
